LITTLE LIBRARY

Two out of three children living in poverty don’t have a single book to read in their home, so two Hunt County organizations are attempting to make a big difference in “little” ways.
Approximately 36 percent of the Hunt County population lives below the poverty line.
The United Way of Hunt County and the Golden K Kiwanis joined forces to install “Little Libraries” at 21 locations in Hunt County. The tiny free libraries are similar in size to dog houses and can hold between 150-200 books.

GOLDEN K OFFICERS 2016/2017

PRESIDENT ELECT: RICH RYAN

MISSION STATEMENT

  • Serving the children of Greenville and Hunt County.
  • To build, retain and support a growing Golden Kiwanis (GK) membership network.
  • Help those who need it, make contributions to agencies which help our community, develop SLPs (Aktion and Key clubs) which mimic the GK in working to make Greenville, Hunt County, and the world a better place.
  • Insure that we attempt to show every citizen that Kiwanis is a worthwhile organization, makes good things happen, is always willing to lend a helping hand, and that our members are proud to be Americans and citizens of Greenville and Hunt County Texas.
  • Continue to generate and effectively manage funds to support club operations at a consistent level.

The Greenville Golden Kiwanis Banners depict the proud history and traditions of this service club which has been in existence since 1985. The club is part of Division 32 of the Texas-Oklahoma District, with five other clubs (Greenville Noon, Paris, Reno, Sulphur Springs, and Wolf City) and the current LT Governor is a member of our club. The club met the conditions to be a Kiwanis International Distinguish Club for the 2014/2015 Kiwanis year.
